Cazalys Stadium Masterplan

Cazalys Stadium is located in the inner southern suburb of Westcourt, prominently positioned along Mulgrave Road, a major arterial connection providing convenient access from the Cairns CBD and surrounding suburbs. As a significant regional sporting and community destination, the stadium provides essential infrastructure and open space for local communities to gather, celebrate, and participate in sport and recreation.

The Cazalys Stadium Precinct master plan responds to the growing presence of AFL in Northern Australia, increasing demand for national and international cricket infrastructure, and the opportunities associated with the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The precinct is also envisioned as a high-performance training hub for visiting teams and Queensland athletes.

The master plan proposes a substantial redevelopment of the stadium precinct, increasing fixed undercover seating capacity to approximately 20,000 seats while significantly enhancing spectator amenities, athlete facilities, media infrastructure, and event operations. The scheme incorporates dedicated commentary and broadcasting facilities for football and cricket, alongside coaching, administration, and event control spaces. A proposed Athlete and Community Active Well-Being Centre further expands the precinct’s role as a community and high-performance destination.

Designed as a staged and deliverable long-term vision, the master plan provides a flexible framework for future growth, supported by indicative cost planning and development staging strategies.
