Blue Lagoon Residence

This work of CA Architects responds to the tropical conditions of Far North Queensland, open and connected to the environment with materials chosen for their high durability and strength.

Set into the suburban context of Trinity Beach the house is carefully sited on an 800 m2 block within Blue Lagoon Residential Estate taking advantage of the views and the south-easterly breezes that enter the house across the lagoon.

The client couple was keen to create a cosy home for themselves that capitalizes on the environment and location, with expansive doors and louvre windows connecting the owners with their surroundings.

The house is arranged around a central courtyard which radiates with light filtering through the vines that cover the arbour spine creating a seamless indoor/ outdoor experience. The courtyard offers shelter and privacy with the master bedroom and study arranged to the right and combined living/dining/kitchen to the left, all enjoying views across the pool garden and lagoon.

To enable the owner to allow visitors to stay longer or capitalize on the booming Airbnb market, a small one-bedroom apartment is located above the double garage which looks back at the resort swimming pool and tennis courts which as nestled under large trees across the street, ensuring the residence’s complete privacy is maintained.
