Cairns Entertainment Precinct

The Cairns Entertainment Precinct was planned to be a World class regional Performing Arts Precinct including Lyric Theatre, Rehearsal space and secondary theatre, external performing spaces, and a regional museum within an existing heritage listed industrial building.

A key element of the design process was a significant public consultation process where we met with targeted stakeholders and held open public workshops which helped to gain significant public support in a volatile political landscape.

The design phases proceeded on time and achieved budget targets, however the facility has not yet been constructed due to external factors. It had been conceived as a project that would revitalise the city’s waterfront, boost local employment, promote international cultural tourism and provide community arts organisations with facilities for arts development and performance.

The project was proudly delivered in association with Cox Architecture, formerly Cox Rayner Architects.
