JCU Fitouts

CA Architects completed various office fit-outs and space moves for James Cook University providing additional academic offices, laboratory spaces, student services offices and teaching spaces to accommodate for projected growth of staff and student numbers at the Cairns JCU Campus.

The result is a refurbished Block A4 to consolidate spaces for the School of Arts and Social Sciences (SASS), Discipline of Psychology, the Estate Office and School of Creative Arts (SoCA), and a new facility for TropWATER which included the design of flexible office spaces, a Wet Lab including a large morgue table with associated extraction and good drainage and freezer/storage area in an existing space.

An integrated design approach with a common theme throughout the buildings and the insertion of inspiring peer-to-peer learning spaces in block A4 provides approximately 3000m² of renovated space.

CAA worked with JCU to develop a brief that would incorporate their design guidelines and to encourage multi-discipline work space and lab areas, and also typically provide project management and full architectural services for these projects.
