Ravenshoe Masterplan

James Cook University’s Tropical Urban Design Lab, in association with CA Architects, TPG Architects and Prowse Landscaping collaborated on a masterplan for Ravenshoe’s main street.

The Ravenshoe masterplan project commissioned by Tablelands Regional Council encompasses the community’s vision for a more vibrant, enticing and attractive main street serving both locals, visitors and revealing Ravenshoe’s history and future aspirations.

In extensive collaboration with stakeholders, the design team devised a plan for safer streets for pedestrians, motorists and the physically challenged. Improving civic amenities, native landscaping and commissioning public art were suggested amongst integrated design that connects the town’s natural and cultural attractions. These assets include riverside walks, Indigenous heritage, military history stories from World War II and Ravenshoe’s status as Queensland’s highest town.
